German code name for the retaliatory attack by the SS-Division “Das Reich “ on French maquis near Auvergne on June 10th, 1944. During this attack 642 civilians, men, women and children from the village of Oradour-sur-Glane were brutally murdered. The entire village was destroyed, only ten inhabitants survived the massacre.
