    Biography

Franciscus Duwaer lived in Amsterdam at Nieuwe Looierstraat 45-47. He was unmarried and Director of NV Printing and Publishing J. F. Duwaer & Zonen. As a member of the resistance, he belonged to the Personal Identity Card Center (PBC) and was also involved in forgery of identity cards, illegal literature and assistance to persecuted Jewish compatriots. For about two years in a row, Duwaer printed identity cards, stamps and letterheads every Sunday. It has never been known how many identity cards were printed, but in any case it was many tens of thousands. After Sunday work, everything was removed and put away, so that no staff member noticed anything about their boss's illegal work the next day. On June 8, 1944, Duwaer was arrested by the SD. He took all responsibility for the illegal work carried out in his printing house. Together with the resistance members Paul Gustave Sidonie Guermonprez (December 28, 1908 Ghent, B.), Johan Limpers (August 2, 1915 Heemstede), Karel August Pekelharing (April 6, 1909 Hoorn) and Gerrit Jan van der Veen (November 26, 1902 Amsterdam) he was executed.
