"Lieutenant-Colonel Davies served with distinction in the Mediterranean Theatre and came to the Quartermaster Staff of Headquarters First Canadian Army in the closing stages of the campaign in Northwest Europe. He made a significant contribution to the success of the operations in the Netherlands and in Germany showing himself from the outset to be an experienced and capable staff officer and applying himself with great energy and determination to his many responsible duties."
