The following press article describes the Knight’s Cross action of Kapitänleutnant Haxthausen…

“Kapitänleutnant von Haxthausen has repeatedly proven himself as a convoy leader during his wartime missions. His ships have fought frequent, hard battles with English fast attack craft and fighter-bombers, and quite often have had to endure fire from English coastal batteries while in the Straits of Dover.

The Kampffährenflottille led by Haxthausen is especially dreaded by the enemy on account of its accurate gunnery. Its tally of destroyed targets currently stands at 5 English fast attack craft and a number of aircraft. The Flottille has furthermore rendered important services during the fighting against the enemy invasion fleet.”
