Biography

Service number J/86496, Royal Canadian Air Force.
William Love was son of William F. and Elizabeth M. Love, of Cos Cob, Connecticut. He was Pilot Officer with No. 426 Squadron. Love was a member of the crew of Lancaster Mk II, DS794 - OW-W, which took part in the pombardment at Berlin on 15th february 1944. The plane crashed in the IJsselmeer, the Netherlands. All seven crew members, Pilot Officer B.W. Pattle, Sergeant A.B. Chester, Pilot Officer P. Labach, Flight Sergeant L.W. Hicks, Pilot Officer L.T. Prosser, Pilot Officer W.K.M. Love, Pilot Officer O.W. Hicks, were killed. Only four bodies washed ashore, of which L.W. Hicks, Labach and Prosser were buried in Harderwijk and Love in Elburg.
