"Pilota da caccia di raro ardire e di virtù eccezionali, con fredda e mirabile audacia, in aspri combattimenti nel cielo del Mediterraneo conseguiva venti vittorie aeree che sommava alle altre ventitré vittorie ottenute sul fronte dell’Ovest. L’esempio diuturno di tanto valore era di sprone ai gregari della sua squadriglia che ne traevano l’ardore e la fede per i maggiori cimenti e le maggiori vittorie.
