“Over a period spanning more than an entire year, Oberleutnant Nemecek and Leutnant Hemmer have formed an outstanding military partnership that has enabled them to achieve incredible feats over the course of flying more than 100 long-range reconnaissance sorties against England. Their accomplishments have already been mentioned three times in the Wehrmachtbericht. In this time they participated in 39 aerial battles against English fighters, and yet succeeded in shooting down 6 aircraft and 2 barrage balloons.”
