During the defensive battles along the German blocking position between the Volga and Don rivers (north of Stalingrad) on 26-27.08.1942, Oberleutnant Oster and his Batterie especially distinguished themselves. In these two days Oster and his men destroyed a total of 17 enemy tanks and damaged a further 7, some of these in close combat.
