On the 18.05.1942 Leutnant Reichwald held a key position with his heavy Flak-gun during the heavy fighting SW of Kharkov. With this cannon he defended the position successfully against 6 Soviet infantry attacks, and within the space of a few minutes destroyed 6 attacking Soviet tanks (raising his total of tanks destroyed on the Eastern front to 27 in the process). He would be awarded the Knight’s Cross for his accomplishments.
