On the 14.01.1945 Oberfeldwebel Ehm and his Zug defended the Trakehnen train station against all Soviet attacks and breakthrough attempts. In this battle Oberfeldwebel Ehm showed exceptional bravery, and his independent actions prevented a breakthrough at this location, something which would have had far-reaching consequences for the entire divisional and Korps’ sector. Ehm would be awarded the Knight’s Cross for his actions on this day.
