Citation:
"For gallantry in action against the enemy, on 1 April 1945, in the vicinity of Lamershagen, Germany. When a task force of tanks and Company G was halted by devasting panzerfzust fire, Private First Class REESE and five comrades went to reconnoiter and, if possible, eliminate the panzerfausts. Coming upon the enemy on high ground, Private First Class REESE participated in a bold assault which destroyed the position and enabled the tanks to resume their advance. Seven Germans were killed by Private First Class REESE and his comrades, and fourteen bazookas were captured. The gallant combat skill displayed by Private First Class REESE is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service."
