"On July 21st, 1943, Hauptmann Endriss and a handfull of scraped together Grenadieren and on his own initiative managed to halt the enemy advance by several counterattacks. in this he managed to take back his own defensive position and protect that of the headquarters. Hauptmann Endriss in this process was seriously injured. Endriss participated materially in holding back the enemy advances."
