On the 02.08.1941 Oberstleutnant Erdmann attacked a Russian bunker line along both sides of a creek bed with his Kradschützen-Bataillon and the subordinated II./I.R. (mot.) 8. He managed to break through this line, and in doing so secured a position from which his Division could commence an attack against Luga. He would be awarded the Knight’s Cross for this action.
