Biography

Joachim Diesener reached the rank of Major during the Second World War. After the Westerngerman Bundeswehr was instituted he served there until 31st March 1974 and finally reached the rank of Oberstleutnant.

Awarded for distinguishing himself at Moszczona during the Kovel relief effort (April 1944). On the 05.04.1944 Diesener and his Bataillon established contact with the railroad strongpoint northwest of the city, and in doing so significantly contributed to the relief of Kovel itself. Later, on the 07.04.1944, he and his Bataillon again distinguished themselves by clearing the forest northeast of Dubowa while destroying an enemy company in the process.
