Biography

Hendrik Springer subscribed into the Dutch Royal Navy in 1921.
He left with his family for the Netherlands East Indies on January 12th 1938.
On February 27th 1942 Hendrik Springer was topredoed with the Hr.Ms. de Ruyter during the Battle in the Java Sea. He was a Japanese Prisoner of War on Thailand from March 1942. Hendrik was liberated on August 15th 1945 and returned to the Netherlands on April 8th 1946. He was discharged with honour on September 1st 1946 from the Dutch Royal Navy. Hendrik Springer died in 1972.
