The following wartime excerpt describes why Reiser received the Knight’s Cross…

“Unteroffizier Sebastian Reiser… received the Knight’s Cross on the 11.10.1941 for his achievements as a cannoneer in an Artillerie-Abteilung. During an enemy armoured attack south of Radziechow he destroyed 14 Soviet tanks with a light field howitzer.”

One of 40 soldiers cited in the Wehrmachtbericht or Armed Forces Communiqué but not named in the newly established Honor Roll of the German Army due to a change in award policy made effective 8 Aug 1941 (and beginning with award # 74). The soldiers in question, did, however, receive the Commendation Certificate.
