Citation:
"On the 5th of October 1943 56 Recce Regiment was defending a ridge to the S.W. of Termoli. Tpr Wishart of his Regiment is the driver of a Jeep at Taq. R.H.Q. which was in the wood on the ridge. The enemy attacked on both flanks with tanks and infantry and the wood and approaches to it were subjected to heavy M.G., mortar and shell fire. Many casualties occured in the wood and Tpr Wishart volnteerd to evacuate then in is his Jeep to the A.D.S. He made several journeys through heavy fire. Towards evening the enemy had secured positions on the fringe of the wood and on both flanks of it and were directly covering all approaches.
There were several casualties still to be evacuated and Tpr Wishart made two more journeys under fire, moving across country. Had these casualties not been evacuated, they would undoubtedly have fallen into enemy hands when the wood was ordered to be abandoned early the next morning, or night have died from lack of medical attention."
