Biography

Peter Graeme MacIver was the son of Walter MacIver and Amy Frances Lowndes. He married on 16th August 1937 with Beatrice Ada Hamilton. They had two daughters.
He joined the Navy and became midshipsman on 1st January 1922. He was promoted to A/S Lieutenant on 13th June 1926. On 19th May 1928 he became S.Lieutenant. His promotion to Lieutenant followed on 1st September 1930. On 1st September 1938 he was promoted to Lieutenant commander. Between 1st October 1939 and April 1940 he was stationed on the H.M.S. Carinthia, an armed merchant cruiser. He commanded the corvette H.M.S. Periwinkle between 18th September 1940 and December 1941. Between 9th February 1942 and 7th July 1943 he was Commanding Officer on the destroyer H.M.S. Georgetown.
He received command over the frigate H.M.S. Hargood between March 1944 and October 1944.
His final promotion to Commander was on 31st December 1943. Peter MacIver retired from active service in April 1946 and retired from the arms on 1st July 1950.
