Citation:
"For gallantry in action in July, 1943, in Sicily. During a strong enemy counter-attack, necessitating battalion withdrawal, a machine gunner was killed and his assistant wounded by enemy fire. Private Jezierski, ammunition bearer for the gun, immediately took the gunner's place and continued to deliver screening fire for the withdrawal, until the weapon was knocked our of action and he was mortally wounded. With great difficulty, he crawled back to a company located in the rear and gave complete information concerning the attack which had taken place. This information proved extremely valuable in the establishment of a secondary line of defense. Private Jezierski's superb courage and remarkable devotion to duty will always remain an inspiring example to the American soldier."
