"Has decorated himself by brave conduct against the enemy, by in the early morning of 10th May 1940 near Coevorden, posted at a checkpoint at a chanal bridg which was to be blown up, in fearless manner for some hours with succes under heavy enemy fire in a simple facility, being able to resist an overwhelming enemy equipped with armoured cars, in which way the enemies advance was held up en which inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy; hereby holding his grond until the last shot could be fired."
