James Cox entered service at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas on 2nd February 1942 and served with the 85th Fighter Wing. He left for New Guinea on 29th January 1944, where he arrived on 18th February. He was send to the United States for medical reasons on 30th November and war honorably discharged on 30th January 1945.
