Biography

Karl Manowarda was the son of dr. Manowarda, Austrian Air Force medical at Thalerhof airport, near Graz, Austria. Karl Manowarda was shot down over England, but managed to leave his plane by parachute. He then became Prisoner-of-War.

After the Second Worl War he also became Medical Doctor and joined the Austrian Air Froce as Doctor at the same airport where his father served. He flew several different post-war planes. In the late 1970's he had an accident with a Saab Safir. He left the Ausrtian Air Force at the age of 47 as Oberstleutnant and becam Anaestesist in Stolzalpe-Murau. He kept flying aircraft and did skydiving. He served with the 1st Austrian Para Club as instructor.
