Has distinguished himself in action against the enemy, after having as far back as 1942 having reported voluntarily to a British co-called “commando” or other unit:
1) by being allocated to the 82nd Airborne Division after having parachuted on Septem 18th near Groesbeek and in the months thereafter having performed meritorious deeds,
2) by having participated in the seaborne landing of 47 Royal Marine Commando at Westkapelle on November 1st and having participated thereafter almost continuously in the fighting in the dunes under heavy enemy fire for three whole days until being very seriously injured by hostile mortar fire during the attack on the last hostile pillbox near Zoutelande on November 3rd.
