Peter Mace was born in Britain on 18th April 1922. He enlisted in RAF in 1940, and was demobilized in 1946. He did most of his 2,200 hours of flying in Transport Command.

He moved to Australia with his wife, Kay and daughter, Linda in 1950 and lived in the northern beaches area of Sydney with his family. He worked for Qantas for 32 years until his retirement in 1982. He passed away in Sydney on 3rd February 1996 at the age of 73.
