Recommendation:
For having distinguished himself by courageous conduct against the enemy between May 11th – May 14th as sectioncommander of 11e Compagnie Mortieren van 8 defending Rotterdam. Even when his section had to operate almost independently, he skillfully and coolly directed fire. In particular: on May 12th, after having been ordered to take up position at the Haringvliet he succesfully directed fire against the enemy which had dug in near the Bolwerk, even during a close-range aerial attack by the enemy. Without taking cover, he had the rate of mortarfire increased in order to prevent the enemy from improving his positions on the ground by taking advantage of this aerial attack.
