Rank:
Second-Lieutenant
Unit:
Liaison
Awarded on:
November 17th, 1947
Citation:
"Excellent NCO who under all circumstances has shown a high order of cheerfullness and sacrifice. Has decorated himself specificly during the fightings in and around Dunkirk in May 1940, acting with a high level of sacrifice and courage during liaison missions under constant enemy bombardments."

Ordre No. 2034/C. Was during the action probably Sergeant.
Awarded posthumously.
Received with a Bronze Star.
The awarding document and the decoration itself, show that of the "Croix de Guerre des Théâtres Opérationnels Extérieurs" a variant of the Croix de Guerre that according to the decorations regulations was not awarded for actions during the Second World War. The text of the recommendation/citation however show without any doubt that the decoration was awarded for a dead in relation to the Second World War. Formally the awarding should have been for the regular Croix de Guerre.
