Recommendation:
"Lt. Style, at great risk, and in defiance of all known safety precautions, detonated two Bangalore Torpedoes lying only a few feet from the ignited fuses. He then climbed the cliff with his Section and took up forward positions covering machine-gun posts inside the wire which surrounded the Battery defences. His successful placing of bren guns, riflemen, and snipers armed with telescopic-sighted rifles threw the whole enemy position into confusion. German gun crews were sniped as soon as a move was made to service the guns; 2 machine-gun crews were put out of action and the Flak Tower, inside the Battery, was brought under heavy fire and eventually silenced.
Lt. Style himself accounted for many of the enemy. He was later wounded in the leg by shrapnel ffrom heavy Mortar fire which continually searched his positions. Lt. Style refused to have his wound attended to and, after the Battery finally fell, he took out a fighting petrol to cover the Commando flank during withdrawal and final re-embarkation. Lt. Style’s personal example inspired all ranks to show the greatest gallantry: in several cases riflemen crawled on across the open to within 150 yards of enemy pillboxes silencing the machine-gun crews with bullets trough the loopholes."

In recognition of gallant and distinguished services in the combined attack on Dieppe.
