"Lt De Gier, Royal Netherlands Army, has been attached to HQ 22 Armd Bde as a Liaison Officer since Oc 1944. He has fought in every action which this Bde has fought since that date including the clearing of Holland South of the R Maas in Oct 1944, The Roer 'Triangle' in Jan 45, and the pursuit from the Rhine until the conclusion of Hostilities North of Hamburg. His services to this HQ have been gallant and invaluble. During the mobile warfare in which this Bde has taken part he has frequently visited areas not yet cleared of enemy and obtained valuble information. He has performed many valuble reconnaissances with the forward troops of the Bde underheavy fire. His assistance to thee administrative staaf has been of equal worth. In fact, his assistance to the Allied cause has been very considerable and his disregard for personal safety, his untiring efforts and his good will have earned him the respect and conficence of every man of this brigade."
