Technician Fourth Grade Paul E. Wages (Army Serial Number 38084150), Armored, United States Army, for distinguishing himself by heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States on 11 April 1945, in the area of Schliprüthen, Germany. Completely disregarding the great danger from fire and exploding ammunition, Tec 4 Wages went to the aid of one of the crewmembers of a burning tank. After pulling him from the vehicle, Tec 4 Wages quickly smothered the flames on the man's clothing. By his swift and courageous action Tec 4 Wages saved his comrade from death.
