"For extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as radio operator of a C-47 type aircraft. On 1 June 1944, Staff Sergeant Siegelman flew on a mission in an unarmed and unarmored troop carrier type aircraft to drop paratroops behind enemy lines near Avezzano, Italy. Displaying great courage and superios professional skill in the performance of his duties as his pilot skillfully maneuvred through heavy enemy ground fire to the designated drop zone. Staff Sergeant Siegelman contributed greatly to the successful completion of this vital military operation. On many combat missions, his outstanding proficiency and steadfast devotion to duty have reflected great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States."
