"For meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight as pilot of a P-40 type aircraft. On 20 June 1944, Lt. Walker, displaying outstanding courage and flying ability, participated as Element Leader in a flight of eight P-40's ordered to dive bomb a vital road bridge south of Florence, Italy. Despite intense and accurate anti-aircraft fire, several direct hits were scored on the bridge, rendering it completely unservicable. The outstanding accuracy and determination displayed by Lt. Walker on this mission reflect great credit uponhimself and the Armed Forces of the United States."
