    Biography

    Oberfeldwebel Bernhard Winse was killed in action on June 2nd, 1941 when his Junkers Ju88 A-5 (Werk Nummer 3422) M2+DL of 3. / Küstenfliegergruppe 106 was shot down 4 miles Northeast of Newcastle-upon-Tyne by F/O Niemiec with Hurricane V7123 and Sgt. Baranowski flying W9183, No. 317 Squadron from RAF Ouston. When attempting to make an emergency landing on the North Sea, Oberfeldwebel Winse and Obergefreiter H. Forstbach were killed. Oberleutnant zur See H. Borger and Obergefreiter K. Schummers were taken POW.

    His name has been added ot the Kriegerdenkmal at Borkum, Germany.
