"Landing at Bernieres sus Mer on June 6, 1944, with the landing platoons of the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada. Lieut. Schofield had the task of maintaining liaison between the infantry battalions and the sappers as well as responsibilities of making reconnaissances for much needed water supplies. Lieut. Schofield with complete disregard of personal danger, was able to send back engineer information on obstacles and mines that was of vital importance to the engineer plan."
