"On the night of Aug. 16, 1944, B.S.M. Tinsley was non-commissioned officer in charge of a 40-mm light anti-aircraft gunsight southoeast of Falaise, in a locality near the South Saskatchewan regiment, and was subjected to constand enemy mortar and shell fire. During the night enemy fighting patrols infiltrated into the gun position, but were repulsed with casualties by the gun crew. The conduct of this sergearnt was of outstanding both before and throughout this action."
