John D. Boone, 19139805, Staff Sergeant, 508th-Parachute Infantry. For heroic conduct in action on 6 June 1944, one mile from Picauville, France. Staff Sergeant Boone volunteered and successfully penetrated enemy lines in order to locate and bring back to safety personnel of the company who had been wounded in a fire fight. By his meritorious service during this action, Staff Sergeant Boone, Headquarters, First Battalion, was instrumental in saving the lives of many of the soldiers. Entered military service from San Francisco, California.
