Biography

Gim Wong wa a Canadian Flight Engineer of Chinese descent. His formal Chinese name is Huang Jinhuan.
Wong joined the RCAF in 1944 and initially trained as an air gunner and later became a flight engineer on Halifax bombers. He was one of the youngest commissioned Chinese Canadian pilot officers and was stationed at Jericho Air Station in Vancouver.

On December 15th, 2012 he received the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal for "tireless efforts in seeking redress for the Head Tax and Chinese Exclusion Act."
