"This officer has been actively engaged on operations for the past fifteen months. Both as a section leader and latterly as a flight commander he has proved an asset to the squadron. On his last encounter with the enemy, whilst leading the squadron. Act. Fit. Lt. Groves shot down two enemy aircraft. Throughout, this officer has displayed a fine fighting spirit and exceptional keenness. He has destroyed six hostile aircraft, three of which were shot down daring the campaign in Greece."
