"This NCO is the Serjeant of the LAD attached to 52 (L) Division Signals and during the last three months he has been in sole charge, carrying out the work normally done by a WO Class I.

In addition to maintaining the vehs of 52 (L) Division Signals he has also been responsible for all the vehs of Divisisional Troops and this has necessitated a high degree of organization and much hard work.

The period in question has seen the clearing of the West Bank of the Rhine, its subsequent crossing and the long advance through Germany. During this Serjeant Duthie has shown great powers of leadership and organization and has carried out many arduous tasks both by day and night in the face of great difficulties. He has not spared himself in any way and his example and devotion to duty has been a source of inspiration to the men of his detachment."
