"For eminent military services rendered to the Homeland in wartime, namely as a crewmember of H.M. communication vessel “De Mok”. Said vessel, eminently having rendered assistance in the period between May 31st and June 4th 1940 during the evacuation of the B.E.F. from Dunkirque under heavy bombing and machinegun fire by enemy fighters, was finally lost following a collision with a French destroyer, displayed cool-headedness and determination enabling important units of this expeditionary force to be evacuated to England on this vessel."
