"On 5 th June 1940 this officer'scompany was heavily engaged by the enemy. Captain Webb personally organised the defence of the village under heavy enemy fire. When the withdrawl was necessary, this officer - agian under heavy enemy fire - showed the greates courage and successfully withdrew his Company to the positions ordered. During the march through enemy occupied country this officer was always cheerful, and his conduct inspired all ranks. Throughout all the operations from 5th to 12th June Captain Webb displayed a cool courage, sound leadership, initiative, and great endurance."
