On 20-6-1942 at 03.00 pm the Z 1215 Wellington was shot down by a German night fighter 30 km northwest of the island of Vlieland and crashed into the North Sea during a robbery at Emden.
Two crew members washed ashore on the Dutch coast, including Lech. The other six crew members are missing.
