He has distinguished himself by courageous conduct against the enemy by having joined an important resistance organisation in the occupied Netherlands at the end of September 1944 and, ordered by this organisation, for having traveled from occupied territory (het Gooi) to the liberated part of the Netherlands, thereby passing enemy lines in order to make contact with the Allied forces and succeeding under dangerous and trying circumstances.
Furthermore, after several failed attempts to pass enemy lines again the next night in order to report after his return. Finally, after having been asked to do so, penetrating the enemy lines again under trying circumstances and in close proximity of enemy troops and installations to complete his task. By this conduct having rendered important services to the Allied conduct of the war and the Dutch Government.
