"Near St. Trond on 11th May, 1940, this N.C.O. showed conspicuous bravery when bringing back a report from a Belgian Headquarters during a heavy German bombing attack. His motor cycle was damaged by an enemy bomb. He repaired his machine whilst still under fire and succeeded in delivering his report in spite of the fact that he had to pass through an area already occupied by the enemy."
