Biography

The Japanese submarine I-58 torpedoed the the USS Indianapolis on 30 July 1945. It had just delivered key components (enriched uranium) for the world's first operational atomic bomb to the island of Tinian in the South Pacific. James Nunley was Fireman 1st class on the ship when it was torpedoed.
