Biography

Wg Cdr C B B Wallis assumed command on Nov 26 1941 of 45 squadron RAF . Previously OC A Flight 55 squadron

On 24 July, 1942 following an engine-cut whilst taking off at Dum Dum. Wg Cdr Wallis crashed. Plt Offr Pag (Obs) was killed instantly. whilst Sgt McDade and two passengers of 60 sqn were seriously injured.
Wg Cdr Wallis - after personally reporting the crash - was admitted to the hospital and died within two hours.

"After participating in the campaign in the Western Desert, Wing Commander Wallis took his squadron to Burma and immediately went into action. In all the important operations carried out by the squadron in Burma his qualities of leadership have done much to maintain its high morale. On several occasions, Wing Commander Wallis's aircraft has been severely damaged by enemy anti-aircraft fire."
