Biography

He was a Signal Corps radio operator attached to the 1st Infantry Division for the June 6, 1944, D-Day Normandy Beach landing. Later in 1944 he was transferred to the 249th Quartermaster Depot Supply Company. He accompanied this company to Antwerp, Belgium, and was there when the Germans attacked the city with V-1 and V-2 missiles. He was still with the 249th when mustered out of service at Ft. Campbell, Ky, on January 14, 1946.
