"commencing in October 1940, he took part in attacks against such heavily defended targets as Berlin, Essen, Dusseldorf and Gelsenkirchen. Later he served in the Middle East, where he flew on operations against targets in Greece, Crete, Italy, Cyrenaica, Sicilt and Tripoli. Returning to England Flying Officer Warren participated in the 1000-bomber raids. More recently he has taken part in sorties to Cologne, Hamburg and Essen. By his initiative and as air-gunner he has always inspired confidence in his crew, while his keenness and courage have set a splendid example to all."
