Major John Kauffmann served in the American Field Service, British 14th Army, US Army's 187th Airborne RCT and 10th Special Forces Groups. He was eventually posted at the Virginia Defense Force as Lt. Col and subsequently worked for the army and defense departments. Apart from the awards listed below, Kaufmann also earned two Presidential Unit Citations.
