"For heroic achievement in connection with military operations against the enemy in Italy on 21 April 1945. Lance Bombardier Leach, operating a wireless set in a Battery Observation Post vehicle, under hazardous conditions in open terrein, despite heavy and continuous enemy shelling, remained at his position and continued to operate his radio with coolness and bravery, thereby materially assisting his unit in the successful completion of its mission. His courage under fire, determination in the face of the enemy and complete devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the British Army. Entered service from Rhyl, North Wales."
