He has distinguished himself by courageous conduct in combat against the enemy against hostile paratroopers near the Haagsche Schouw on May 10, 1940, where took a four man team prisoner and was killed in the process.
KB 060546: The eneny had entrenched himself in a farm. When C.22 Dep.Bat. decided to get them out, he courageously followed through the garden to get on the flank of these Germans. Four paratroopers were taken prisoner. He lost his life in this action. Bullet wounds in both flanks.
